Ask Canada
About Ask Canada
A plain-language front door to every federal service, built on official sources.
What this is
Ask Canada helps you find and understand Government of Canada services. Ask a question in your own words, in English or French, and get a short answer with a link to the exact official page it came from. When a question needs more than words, Ask Canada adds a tool to the conversation: a planner, a calculator, a checklist or live data.
What it isn’t
Ask Canada is an independent service. It is not the Government of Canada and does not speak for any department. It never signs you in, submits applications or takes payments. When it’s time to do that, it sends you to the official site.
Where answers come from
Answers are drawn from official pages on canada.ca and other Government of Canada sites, and from public data such as weather alerts, travel advisories, recalls and statutory holidays. Every fee, date and deadline shows when it was last checked. Always confirm on the linked official page before you act.
Open and adoptable
Ask Canada is built to Government of Canada web standards: official languages, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), privacy by design and strict security. It is designed so a government team could adopt and run it.
