Ask Canada
Privacy notice
Private by design, not by policy. Here is exactly what happens to what you ask.
What we don’t collect
No account, no name, no email. We don’t use tracking cookies, analytics profiles or advertising. We never ask for your Social Insurance Number, passport number, banking details or passwords, and you should never type them here.
Your questions
When you ask a question, it is sent to our server to write the answer, then it is not kept. Conversations are not stored on our servers or used to build profiles. If an AI model provider processes the question, it is sent without your identity and under terms that don’t allow it to be used for training.
What stays on your device
Recent chats, plans, checklists and reminders you save are kept in your browser’s local storage, on this device only. They never leave it. You can remove them any time with “Clear this device” in the Menu or the footer.
Abuse protection
To keep the service available, we count requests per network address for a few minutes to stop automated abuse. We keep only a scrambled (hashed) form of the address, in memory, and never log it. An invisible bot check also runs when you send a question: in the background, your browser answers a short technical challenge from our hosting provider (Vercel BotID), so automated scripts can’t use up the service. There is no puzzle to solve. The check looks at technical signals from your browser, not at what you ask, and we don’t use it to identify you, build a profile or follow you across sites.
Official sites
When you continue to canada.ca or another official site, that site’s own privacy notice applies.
